Disabled Access: There is a disabled fishing area on the right bank accessed from the car park at the Roe Valley Country Park. Rocky banks at the location can make landing fish difficult.
The Roe is renowned for its sea trout
and salmon runs. The upper reaches
are particularly attractive featuring
gravel beds, pools and riffles as the
river winds towards Limavady town.
Good fly fishing throughout the
season although spinning and worming
is popular too. July and August are
best for sea trout followed by salmon
until the end of season. It is a productive fishery supporting good sea trout to 3 kg, with a good grilse run and salmon to 7 kg. A spate river it fishes best on a falling flood from June to October. Bright patterns and purple dressings work well on the Roe. Night time sea trout fishing is popular in the lower reaches.
